The Sun Dome has been devised to extend the education outreach work carried out by the UK fusion programme. The broad aim of the project is to build on the existing knowledge and understanding impacts, while stimulating a more affective, emotional interest in the fusion process in particular and science in general.
For the children:
-
To promote the understanding of basic science aspects – atoms, states of matter, energy, temperature, nuclei and electrons;
-
To support the children’s knowledge of the Sun and how it works – fusion;
-
To advance the understanding of fusion energy as an alternative form of energy for the future.
For us:
-
To improve the image and interest in science amongst school students and convey excitement and thrill of scientific discovery;
-
To promote a positive attitude to fusion – and how this technology can contribute to a cleaner and sustainable society in the future.
